Brighton's Best Foot Music present a fantastic 7" of Syrian folk songs by Jamal & Alaa of the Sussex Syrian Community Group.
Jamal has over 40 years experience as a musician. Since arriving in the UK as a refugee in 2017 he has toured extensively with the Orchestra of Syrian Musicians, Damon Albarn and Gorillaz, performing at Glastonbury and Womad festivals. Alaa is a talented 'oud' player and singer from one of Syria’s most highly respected musical families. The two musicians now run a Syrian children’s choir and work to promote community integration.
The Day & Night E.P. is a unique record, and likely to be the first ever musical release by musicians who have fled Syria’s civil war. £5 from sales – the other £1 is your old mate VAT – will go to the Sussex Syrian Community Hardship Fund administered by the Syrian Community Group, to support those who have fled the war in Syria to make their home in the UK.
Includes a download code with bonus tracks.
